1. Eligibility
Participation is strictly limited to staff working in the Villa Malé Office area.
Each team must consist of a minimum of 10 members and a maximum of 15 members.
Each team must also nominate a volunteer to work alongside the Masrace team. This volunteer will travel with opposing teams during the event to help monitor and report any misconduct.
No external participants or family members are permitted to join.
Fishing vessels will be provided only for teams participating from VSTC. All other teams must arrange their own vessels and inform the Masrace team in advance about the type of vessel they will be using.
If any team from VSTC chooses to arrange their own fishing vessel, they must inform the Masrace team in advance.
2. Registration
Registration will be open from May 8 to May 15, 2025, 16:00 hrs.
Registration must be completed through the online portal, which will be shared via Metrics and email.
Late registrations will strictly not be accepted.
3. Fishing Guidelines
Allowed Fishing Methods:
Baitcasting
Jigging
Casting
Trolling
Prohibited Methods:
Net fishing
Spear fishing
All fishing must take place within the designated area and during the approved timeframe.
All teams must comply with local and national fishing laws and follow ethical, sustainable practices.
Endangered or protected species, as defined by the Maldivian Ministry of Fisheries, must not be caught or submitted.
Minimum size for fish caught must be no less than 8 inches in length.
4. Equipment & Safety
Life jackets are mandatory.
Participants must bring their own fishing equipment.
No performance-enhancing bait or toxic substances allowed.

5. Weigh-In & Scoring
All fish caught will be weighed at the official base before 9:30 PM.
The winning team will be determined by the total cumulative weight of all valid fish caught.
Fish must meet the minimum size requirement (no less than 8 inches) to be counted.
Weighing will be supervised by the official judging panel.
In case of a tie:
The team with the heaviest single fish will be declared the winner.
If it is still tied, the team that returns to base earlier will win.
6. Conduct
Teams must maintain sportsmanship and integrity.
Any form of cheating, bribing judges, or tampering with fish will result in immediate disqualification.
Respect local wildlife, fellow participants, and event staff at all times.
7. Disqualification Grounds
Fishing outside the allowed time or area.
Use of banned equipment or bait.
Harassment of other teams or staff.
Arriving at base after 9:30 PM.
9. Legal & Liability
By registering, participants agree to follow all rules and acknowledge that the organizers are not liable for injuries, lost equipment, or accidents during the event.
